Quebec Government reverses proposed restrictions to PEQ for international students
Earlier today, the Government of Quebec reversed its recently proposed reforms of the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ – Québec Experience Program) for international students.
As a reminder, the PEQ provides a “fast track” that allows international students to apply for a Certificat de sélection du Québec and subsequently, for permanent residency in Canada by showing that they had completed a degree from an institution in Quebec and met French language requirements.
Last week, Concordia's interim president Graham Carr issued a statement expressing the university's concerns about the goverrnment's modifications to the existing regulations.
Today, all PEQ-related regulations were returned to their original state as they existed before the program was temporarily suspended in July 2019. For additional information, visit the Government of Quebec’s Immigration website.
