If you’re beginning to plan for the January 2020 back-to-school period, here are some useful tips to help you gather your course materials efficiently:

Get your booklist online before you come to the store. It makes finding your books so much quicker and easier. Simply enter your eight-digit student ID number to get the complete list. Look for the different options available: new, used, rental or digital.

Make sure to spot the required, alternative, recommended or optional notice next to the books selected by your professors. This will help you determine the essential course material you need for your classes.

Save time — skip the line!

Order online and choose between two options: shipping or the free in-store pick-up option, Click & Collect. Until January 12, Quebec and Ontario residents can get free shipping with no minimum purchase.

There are two Book Stops to choose from: one in the tunnel level of the J.W. McConnell Building (LB-03) on the Sir George Williams Campus and another on Loyola Campus in Room CJ-1.422 of the Communication Studies and Journalism Building.

Coursepacks

When you get your booklist, look closely at the available formats of your textbooks and other course material. There could be printed coursepacks, exclusively sold by Concordia Stores, or an eCoursepack, which can save you 50 per cent off the price of the printed version. More than 90 per cent of titles are now available in digital format.

Textbook options

  • Buy it used and save up to 25 per cent
You can save up to 25 per cent off the original cost when you buy used textbooks. Plus, you can sell it back when you’re done. The price depends on a number of factors, including if the book is in good condition and if it is in demand at Concordia or other universities.
  • Rent your textbooks and save up to 60 per cent
Some textbooks can be rented, although the number of titles is limited. If your textbook is available for rent, it will appear in your booklist as an option. You can rent your textbook in stores or online and get it shipped directly to you. At the end of the term you simply bring it back to one of the Book Stops. The end-of-term due date for rented textbooks will be on your receipt.
  • Buy an eBook and save up to 50 per cent
Prefer to go paperless? Most course material at Concordia Stores also comes in a digital format. Check the website to find the options available. You can search either by book title or course number.
