7 clubs at Concordia that empower BIPOC students
As students head back to class, many are also in search of the extracurricular activities that add to university life and Concordia’s BIPOC community is no exception.
For Black, Indigenous and persons of colour, having a support system of people who understand one another and go through similar struggles is important, especially in light of the recent atrocities that some of these communities have experienced.
To help the BIPOC community with various issues, Concordia is lucky to have a handful of active clubs catering to these groups.

African Students’ Association at Concordia

The African Students Association was founded in the late 1980s and represents all of the African diaspora within Concordia. The goal of the club is to exemplify scholarship, empowerment and unity within African communities.
Concordia Canadian Asian Society (CCAS)

The CCAS consists of a non-profit association, focused on representing Asian cultures within Montreal and the Concordia community.
Brazilian Students Association (BRASA)

BRASA consists of a non-profit organization and a network of the Brazilian diaspora at Concordia. The club operates as a space for the community to discuss their dreams and challenges.
Filipino Organization of Concordia University Students (FOCUS)

Muslim Students Association MSA Concordia

Concordia’s MSA chapter is the largest student association under the Concordia Student Union and remains the most active.
Nigerian Students Association (NSA)

NSA Concordia welcomes both Nigerian and non-Nigerian students, creating a community dedicated to learning about the culture while embracing it.
Syrian Students Association (SSA)

The SSA is a collective dedicated to improving the academic experience of Syrian students at Concordia. The club aims to keep Syrians connected to to their roots through learning and cultural immersion.
In addition to the clubs above, the university has other useful avenues that provide help to students during the school year. The Black Perspectives office, for instance, offers assistance to students during their studies, while the Concordia Student Union's BIPOC Committee meets bi-weekly to plan projects that benefit students of colour. In addition, the university keeps an active list of student groups to help students connect with BIPOC clubs and other communities of interest.
