Concordia welcomes a new director of applications portfolio management
Benoit Marsan will join Concordia as the new director of applications portfolio management for Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) on February 28. In this role, he will be responsible for the life-cycle planning of pedagogical and institutional applications in alignment with the university’s digital transformation.
“It is with great pleasure that I am joining Concordia’s IITS department,” Marsan says.
“I believe that transparency, respect and collaboration are essential values to ensure the success of any change and digital transformation. I intend to contribute to Concordia’s future with passion, confidence and humility.”
Marsan is a seasoned information systems executive with more than 20 years of experience. He has worked extensively in applications development and has progressed in this area since 2006, when he began working at the Bourse de Montréal.
Between 2008 and 2015 he moved from director to senior director and vice-president at Ivanhoe Cambridge, where he built and developed sizeable teams of more than 50. Most recently, he managed 80 people as head of institutional business solutions at Université de Montréal.
Marsan’s academic background includes a technical college degree in computer science and a Master of Information Systems Management from the Université du Québec à Montreal.
‘Solid experience’
“I am very happy to welcome Benoit to Concordia and as part of my team,” says France Bigras, associate vice-president of information systems and chief information officer.
“He brings a solid experience in application portfolio management acquired within large organizations and, more recently, in the higher education sector. This is a strong asset that will allow Benoit to fully contribute to Concordia’s digital transformation.”
Interim director of applications portfolio management Timothy Ni will support Marsan in his new role. He will ensure a successful integration before returning to his position as the IITS manager of student systems. Jean-François Bourgault has agreed to continue in his role of acting IITS manager of student systems until March 31.
“We are very grateful to Timothy Ni for his incredible work over the past four months,” Bigras adds.
