Hospitality Concordia is gearing up for the much-anticipated community Sugar Shack. Catch it on April 10 on Sir George Williams Campus in the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts (EV) atrium, and on April 11 on Loyola Campus at the Loyola Jesuit Hall and Conference Centre.

Get ready to satisfy your sweet tooth and indulge in a feast of traditional delights and all things maple. Whether you're a seasoned sugar shack enthusiast or a newcomer eager to experience the magic for the first time, this event promises something for everyone.

Surround yourself with friends, colleagues and fellow Concordians, all dressed in plaid and eager to dive into a mouthwatering menu of pea soup, meat pies and maple taffy on snow. With options to suit every palate, including vegan alternatives, there's no shortage of delicious treats to enjoy.

The Sugar Shack is more than just a culinary extravaganza — it's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Concordia students. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Hospitality-run Student Emergency Meal Plan, which students can access via Campus Health and Wellness, Financial Aid, the Student Success Centre, the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities, the Equity Office, the Student Parents Centre and the Otsenhákta Student Centre.

"Investing in student food security is investing in the future of our Concordia community," remarks Sarah Dorrell-Caille, director of Hospitality Concordia.

"Food security is essential, for ensuring that as students pursue their academic journeys, their focus remains on learning, growing and thriving, and that emergency assistance may be available if they are in need."

In addition to supporting student welfare initiatives, Sugar Shack participation will also contribute to funding student-origin trips to the coffee cooperatives in Colombia where Stingers Roast Coffee beans are grown. By purchasing bags of Stingers Roast Coffee, you'll be supporting sustainable practices and community development efforts abroad.

Petra Alves, manager of Conference Services and the co-organizer for this event, emphasizes the importance of community involvement.

"The Sugar Shack is a chance for us to come together as a campus community and show our support for our fellow students. Your attendance and participation will make a real difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity."

So, whether you're craving a taste of tradition, eager to support a worthy cause or simply looking for a fun-filled lunch, the Sugar Shack is the place to be. Don't miss your chance to join in the festivities and help make a positive impact on campus.
