Flooding in Quebec

Flooding across several communities in the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions drove people from their homes and led public security officials in some communities to declare states of emergency.

Pascale Biron, a professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, is available to comment on the impact of climate change on rivers and look at the implications for communities located along significant waterways.

Ali Nazemi, an associate professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, can speak to the effects of climate change is having on the annual freeze-thaw process, and how a lack of consistent snow cover over a winter can affect fragile road, bridge and water infrastructure.
