Celebrate Concordia’s 50th anniversary at Homecoming 2024!

Mark your calendars and dust off your garnet and gold — Concordia’s Homecoming 2024 is just around the corner!

The annual tradition that unites the Concordia community will mark the university’s 50th anniversary from September 18 to 21.

A number of events — close to 30 in all — will welcome alumni, faculty, staff, donors and friends under the theme 50 Years: Forever Forward.

Channel your inner rockstar

concert by renowned choral group Choir! Choir! Choir!, led by Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilma, will feature hits from the past five decades at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall. This event promises to be amazing experience of community brought together through music. Don’t miss this opportunity to join in and sing along to unforgettable songs from the past.

A post-concert cocktail at Loyola Chapel will feature Juno-awarded blues singer Dawn Tyler Watson, BFA 94, Juno-nominated soul singer Patrick Lehman, BFA 09, and the Celtic trio Trílangue, which features alumna Kate Bevan-Baker, PhD 18, GrCert 19.

Catch up with fellow alumni at faculty receptions

The John Molson School of Business will host panel discussions with students, alumni and academic directors on the legacy of case competitions.

The Faculty of Arts and Science will host a reception with a performance by Montreal-based Irish band GRÁINNE, whose members include School of Irish Studies alumni Esmé Cavanaugh, BA 23, Lily MacLean, BA 22, and Darragh Mondoux, BA 20, GrDip 22. Hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by Aaron Klein, BA 08, the executive chef of caterer Olive Orange.

Graduates of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science can enjoy a fireside chat between John Sicard, BCompSci 88, and Bob Courteau, BComm 81, of supply chain management company Kinaxis. “Supply Chain: Why It Matters,” will focus on lessons learned from the pandemic and unexpected challenges faced by global supply chains.

A reception hosted by the Faculty of Fine Arts will feature live jazz from Concordia students Matthew John Slim, Colin Zacharias and Ryan Bennett.

Grab a bite and reconnect at the community barbecue

A 50th-anniversary barbecue will feature music from CJLO radio and a festive atmosphere. Open to all, the barbecue will also serve as the finish line for the Shuffle walkathon. The annual fundraiser has generated more than $2.9 million for Concordia students since 1990.

Cheer on the home team 

No Homecoming is complete without the Concordia Stingers and McGill Redbirds crosstown football rivalry and Alumni Zone tailgate experience. Register early for this popular, family-friendly Homecoming tradition.
