Next fall, Concordia marks its 40th anniversary and there’s rarely been a better time to reengage with your alma mater.
If you can, I encourage you to volunteer. You can offer our students job insights or career tips through our Mentor Program. There are opportunities through GradProSkills and other training areas where your time and presence can make a real difference.
Watch, later this year, for a survey on our programs. Your input will be sought, since your opinions and ideas are critical.
There are other great ways to reconnect. This year Concordia will hold four Thinking Out Loud conversation series on creativity in partnership with the Globe and Mail and The Walrus. Held at the Sir George Williams and Loyola campuses, topics will include music, art, writing and media with expert commentators. Additional lectures from this series will be held in Ottawa and Toronto — stay tuned for more details.
Around the globe, Concordia’s 183,000 alumni will continue to celebrate fresh achievements. The past year alone, graduates were crowned chief executives and presidents, some won Juno Awards, others vied for Oscars.
Concordia grads matter. You write bestsellers, shape the face of professional sport, international media and much more. You are power brokers who grace the pages of Maclean’s, the Financial Post and international publications. You are entrepreneurs who make the world a better place.
And the seeds of your vibrancy are planted right here, where 7,000 dedicated faculty and staff members help shape students into future leaders.
Concordia’s strength is its diversity. As we examine today’s big issues, each of us helps foster discoveries and breakthroughs that make Concordia great as well as bolster knowledge in Montreal, Quebec and Canada.
Keep in touch at concordia.ca/alumni-friends and help make your alma mater even better. Please email me at alumni@concordia.ca. I’d love to hear from you.
My very best wishes to you for a happy 2014!
