Memorial Golf Tournament raises $7,000 for students
The 2017 Concordia Memorial Golf Tournament, held on August 8, raised $7,000 to support students in financial need.
In total, 160 Concordia staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends took part in the annual event, which pays tribute to four professors who died tragically in 1992.
“It’s all about community spirit — and we’ve managed to raise a lot of money over the years,” says Perry Calce, one of the event’s co-founders and a member of the volunteer organizing committee.

The players split into foursomes to play the 18-hole course at the Hemmingford Golf Club, in Hemmingford, Que., using a friendly best-ball format.
First-ever hole-in-one
For the first time in 24 years, a player hit a hole-in-one. Congratulations to David Kruse! He is a property manager in Concordia’s Facilities Management.
The committee extends a special thank you to the Concordia University Part-time Faculty Association for its $1,000 donation, to the Concordia University Faculty Association for its $1,000 donation and to La Personnelle Assurances for its $1,500 donation.
The tournament has raised over $177,000 since its inception. The Concordia Memorial Golf Tournament Bursary Endowment funds six bursaries — one for each faculty, one for a graduate student and one for a student athlete. Valued at $1,000 each, they are awarded to students in financial need.
