Carolyn Vogelesang is a founding partner of Evolution Health Group, a New York-based health care communications organization whose clients include a number of Fortune 500 companies. As she looks toward what she wants her award-winning firm to be, her goal is to double the business in five years, partly by offering many more diverse services.
With 130 employees and partners with whom she has worked with for nearly 20 years, Vogelesang has found that the key to success is as much about relationships as it is about “hard” business skills.
Her Concordia experience
“I think that it really provided a very well-rounded exposure to all the things that are really critical to business success. You would expect to see subjects such as accounting and finance, but there was also a lot of discussion around organizational behaviour, real-world cases and situations that companies are facing.
“Concordia gave a lot of very practical examples and situations where we were able to really face real-world situations.”
Proudest career moment
“Launching my own pharmaceutical marketing company in the U.S. with my two business partners in 2005. The fact that we have continued to thrive nearly 14 years later is extremely exciting and brings me a lot of professional pride.”
Best career advice
“Even when you're faced with challenges and extremely difficult situations, always conduct yourself in a way that's honest and ethical. Being competitive does not mean you have to step on anyone along the way. What I teach my people is that there is no need to speak disparagingly about a competitor when talking about our company.”
