Federal Election Canada 2025
The Canadian Federal Election was recently announced and will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025. Concordia will host polling stations on both campuses for advance and election-day polling.
On-campus voting schedule
Concordia will offer both advance voting and Election Day polling stations. Here’s when and where you can vote:
- Advance open polling (April 13 to 16): Loyola and Sir George Williams campuses
- Advance assigned polling (April 18 to 21): Sir George Williams Campus
- Election Day assigned polling (April 28): Sir George Williams Campus
Who can vote on campus?
During the advanced polling period from April 13 to 16, all students, faculty, and staff who are eligible to vote in the Canadian Federal Election will be able to vote on campus, regardless of their home riding, including those from a different province, city, or jurisdiction within Montreal.
During the advanced assigned polling period from April 18 to 21 and on Election Day on April 28, only voters with an assigned polling station on the Sir George Williams Campus will be able to vote on campus.
You can find out where your assigned polling station is located by:
- checking your voter information card;
- entering your postal code into the Voter Information Service;
- calling Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868 or 1-800-361-8935 (TTY).
What you need to vote at Concordia
To vote on campus, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Be at least 18 years old on Election Day (April 28, 2025)
- Show proof of identity and address
- Know the name of your preferred candidate for your electoral district (Find this on the Elections Canada website).
Advance polling
Open polling April 13 to 16
All students, faculty, and staff who are eligible to vote in the Canadian Federal Election will be able to vote on campus, regardless of their home riding, including those from a different province, city, or jurisdiction within Montreal.
Polling stations will be available at:
- LB Atrium, J.W. McConnell Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.), Sir George Williams Campus
- SP Atrium, Richard J. Renaud Science Complex (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.), Loyola Campus
Assigned polling stations April 18 to 21
Only voters whose voter information card indicates that their assigned polling station is in the EV Atrium, Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (1515 St. Catherine W.), Sir George Williams Campus will be able to vote during this advance polling period.

On Election Day
Activities and services continue as usual
The university will remain open and all classes, exams, laboratories, academic activities and services will continue as normally scheduled on April 28.
Time off to vote
Under the Canada Elections Act, employees eligible to vote are entitled to three consecutive non-working hours on Election Day to permit them to vote during voting hours (9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.). If their work schedule does not permit them to take this time off to vote, they must be granted additional time. Employees should speak directly with their department chair or supervisor or to make arrangements for additional time off to vote.
Election Day polling stations on April 28
Voters with the following assigned polling stations on the Sir George Williams Campus can vote from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28:
- EV Atrium, Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (1515 St. Catherine W.)
- LB Atrium, J.W. McConnell Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.)
- MB Atrium, John Molson Building (1450 Guy)
These polling stations are only for people whose voter information card indicates that their assigned polling station is one of the locations listed above.
