Position Title: Research Assistant
Principal Investigator or Immediate Supervisor: Meghan Moe Beitiks, MFA
Salary information: $25.00 per hour
Approximate number of weekly hours of work: 8 hours (approx.)

Job description:

Reporting to Meghan Moe Beitiks, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out research tasks related to the second year phase of the SSHRC-Funded Project “Angles of Consequence”. Please review the project website before applying: https://ofconsequence.org/

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the production of several site-specific performances and their promotion with the following approaches:
  • Stage Management (creating schedules, running meetings, tracking design concerns like props and costumes, facilitating communication around performance development).
  • Performance and Project Documentation (Photo and Video).
  • Assistance of artists, performers and designers.
  • Community dialogue and support relative to site-specific performances.
  • Presentations, updates and discussions around performance practises with the LePARC research community.
  • Additional research and administrative support on climate impacts contextualized by the projects’ established work.
  • Assistants will be part of a Slack workspace and be expected to be in regular communication via that platform and email.

 Qualifications/skills required:

  • Undergraduate student in arts, performance or sustainability.
  • Working spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Performance production skills preferred: stage management, props building, experience with 3D printing and laser cutting, photo and video shooting and editing.
