The Creative Arts Therapies Residency
Art Volt is happy to announce the third edition of the Creative Arts Therapies Residency program, designed specifically to help support recent alumni of this department by providing them professional opportunities within Montreal-based organizations. To this end, we are thrilled to partner with the Refugee Centre, the Montreal Art Therapy Centre, and the Saint Margaret Residential Centre.
Program overview
The Creative Arts Therapies Residency is a program which aims to help three emerging practitioners develop online or onsite services, grow their professional network and gain valuable experiences. One recent alumni from each of the Creatives Arts Therapies programs (Art Therapy, Drama Therapy and Music Therapy) will be selected and paired with a Montreal-based organization.
Selected candidates will each receive an honorarium of $1433 for a 2.5 hour weekly presence at the site (online or in-person as determined with the site), to develop and deliver weekly therapy sessions from September to December 2023 (12-weeks). Selected alumni will be responsible for consulting with the designated site and developing their own work plan.

Founded by the Catholic Church and support from Montreal’s English-speaking community, the core mission of the Saint Margaret Residential Centre is to care for aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to us by their families.
They focus on providing care in a welcoming, secure and homelike environment tailored to individual needs. Their fundamental commitment to wellbeing and safety—shared by all staff and volunteers, as well as by each resident’s family—underlies all their policies and practices, as well as the design of the physical environment. The Saint Margaret Residential Centre engages families as partners in care so that, even when they live at a distance, they feel welcome and included in life at the Centre.
