The presence of online workshops has grown exponentially since the pandemic. Many students and workers find themselves needing to create, organize, or lead online learning experiences. But where do we start? In this workshop, you will create an outline for a workshop of your own.
Together, we will:
Identify a concept or framework you would like to teach so you can determine the scope of your workshop
Design activity prompts so students can practice applying it
Design reflection prompts so students can learn through iterative practice
By the end, you’ll have the first draft of your workshop outline. Not to mention, you’ll pick up tips from watching me facilitate (we call this "modelling" in learning design).
*Note from the facilitator: This will be an interactive Zoom session with cameras on and breakout rooms. That way you get real feedback and meet cool people. Don't worry if you're intimidated by big group sessions. It'll be a warm and welcoming vibe.

PART 1
Projects - both academic and professional - need a structure to succeed. But what does that structure look like? Learning project management basics can help you to organize your work and collaborate well with others. In this workshop, we will explore best practices for leading a project in a way that keeps everyone aligned on their goals while providing visibility on progress. At the end of the session, we will share information on project management certifications you can pursue to become an accredited project manager.
PART 2
You will work on many different projects throughout your studies and career, and it is important to learn project management basics to get organized and work as a team. In part 2 of this workshop series, we'll practice using Notion (a simple to use, no-code tool) to create a project plan for a case study. This workshop will build off the first one, so we recommend attending Project Management Basics - Part 1 beforehand.

One of the most common questions out there is whether to invest in a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) or a tax-free savings account (TFSA). What really is the difference between the two?
In this interactive workshop, we will explore the potential of both RRSPs and TFSAs, what we can hold in these accounts, where you can open an account and the benefits/negatives. For the RRSP, we’ll touch on pension plans, the RRSP’s Home Buyer’s Plan and how to calculate your tax return from an RRSP contribution. For the TFSA, we’ll explore how you can get started, the contribution maximums for each year and how you can withdraw without any penalty.
