Position description:

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at Concordia University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Sustainable Hydrogen Technology. Areas of particular interest are hydrogen production by electrochemical and related means (including oxygen evolution reaction), fuel cell technology, energy systems involving hydrogen, and hydrogen utilization for sustainable chemical engineering. Candidates conducting density functional theory (DFT) research on sustainable hydrogen production, consumption, storage, and use will also be considered. 

This is a tenure-track position in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. Duties include research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the institution. 

Qualifications and assets 

Candidates must have completed their PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering or a closely related field, or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferably in Quebec, is required. 

The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications in top-tier venues and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Industrial experience will be a definite asset.

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering is a new, rapidly growing department with almost 20 faculty members active in various areas of chemical and materials engineering with a strong focus on sustainable chemical engineering and materials for sustainable energy conversion and storage.
