Welcome to the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering at Concordia University. I am excited and honored to serve as the Chairman of the Department from June 01 2024. Our Department is a big and diverse one with more than 3000 students, 70 professors and 24 staff members dedicated to the engineering of things both inside and outside of classrooms and labs.
At the heart of our Department are our students who come from across the globe. Our undergraduate students enjoy our unique experiential learning environment with the focus on solving real world problems while our masters and PhD students are engaged in expanding the horizon of knowledge through a multitude of next-gen research activities with both fundamental and application focus.
Our students are known to get their hands dirty in labs and makerspaces, and quickly learn that the key to graduation is collaborative learning that is deep and wide. Our department is a Next-Gen Department made up of a team of dynamic faculty members, technical and support staff personnel. Our faculty members research at the forefront of their fields to advance the field of engineering and create new and exciting cutting edge approaches to research, teaching and innovation. With state-of-the-art facilities and multi-disciplinary research focus, our world-class research is creating engineering solutions for society’s toughest problems. This resonates with the mindset of our students who want to explore the commercialisation of their ideas from labs.
The main mission of our Department is to address the needs of the society with expertise on wide areas of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering. Our philosophy is to expand the limits whenever possible to create academically better, industrially relevant and multidisciplinary learning experience for our students with our world-class faculty and support staff members through experiential learning, industrial collaborations and promotion of innovation.
Our accredited undergraduate programs are blend of theoretical, practical and laboratory experiences. Most gain their first work experiences through the Co-op and CIADI programs. Our popular student clubs and technical societies, who win regularly the international competitions, offer the opportunity to builds cars, rockets and drones, as well as life-long friendships. I encourage you to take a look around and learn about our degrees and certificates in Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace engineering.
Our Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering is an inclusive, innovative, and stimulating educational and research environment dedicated to produce engineers and technologies that will serve the needs of the society. We invite you to explore our Department through our website and we look forward to partner with you in the near future.
We facilitate engineering of future at Concordia!
