Black Student Excellence Doctoral Entrance Award

Overview

The School of Graduate Studies at Concordia University is deeply dedicated to promoting diversity within its doctoral programs, with a specific focus on enhancing the representation and active participation of Black communities.

In alignment with Concordia's ongoing initiatives to empower, mentor and comprehensively support emerging leaders in academia, we are delighted to offer the Concordia Black Student Excellence Doctoral Entrance Award. This prestigious award aims to attract exceptionally qualified domestic applicants who self-identify as Black, providing them with financial support throughout their academic journey.

Each year, ten recipients will be granted $30,000 to $35,000 for a duration of four years as they pursue their doctoral degrees.

Eligibility

Black Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (African-Canadian, Caribbean-Canadian, or Afro-Caribbean heritage).
Meet the admission requirements of a PhD program.
Maintain full-time status and good academic standing while enrolled in the PhD program.

Value

Valued at $30,000 - $35,000 per year, resulting in a total award value of $120,000 - $140,000. This financial support combines funds from the School of Graduate Studies and contributions from the student's supervisor and their respective faculty.

As a prospective student seeking to benefit from the Concordia Black Student Excellence Doctoral Entrance Award, you are advised to submit your admission application early, as the award application is integrated into the admission process.
