Overview

The objective of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.

Eligibility

You must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a Protected Person.
You must be enrolled in, or intend to apply, for full-time admission at a Canadian university in a program that has a significant research component. You can apply before starting the program.
As of December 31 of the application year, you should have completed not more than 12 months of full-time studies in the program in which you are requesting funding.
You should have a first-class average, GPA 3.70 or A-, in the last two years of study (full-time equivalent).

Value

$27,000 for one year (award value increased as of Fall 2024).

Application

To apply to the CGS M program, you must complete and submit an electronic application to the Research Portal.

Disbursement process

The Tri-Agency Award Holder’s Guide requires that you remain registered and in good academic standing in your graduate program. Once Concordia University confirms this, recipients of Tri-Agency scholarships and awards will have their payments deposited to their student account five working days after DNE deadline each term.
