Lea Kabiljo
I look at the practical applications of oral history as a teaching tool in art education.
Lea Kabiljo is a PhD Candidate in the department of Art Education. Her research interests include oral history, photography, new technologies, empathy within pedagogical contexts, and teacher training programs. Her artistic practice combines oral history with photography, examining ways that the life-story interview can elicit portraits of people’s inner lives. She teaches visual arts at high school and time-based media at undergraduate level. Previously, she was the executive director or LOVE: Leave Out Violence, a leading non-profit organization in violence prevention for at-risk youth. She is an avid globe-trotter and cheese lover.
