Electrical and Computer Engineering: How can AI-based living assistants enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations?

I’ve always been fascinated emerging technology and its implications for humanity. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the ever-present challenge of ensuring our vulnerable populations, such as seniors, are protected; and that our health providers have resources to support them. Empowered by advanced machine learning methods, small ‘living assistants’ that can monitor vital signs, prevent avoidable health declines and recognize emergencies will enable better, more-informed care for those who need it most.
