How do we acquire gender stereotypes?

Gender inequalities and disparities may be mistakenly viewed as relics of the past. Though overt gender discrimination has decreased, covert attitudes persist with detrimental consequences. From an early age, children internalize societal stereotypes perpetuated by our culture. These deeply ingrained beliefs continue to shape individuals’ behaviours, limiting opportunities and reinforcing gender norms. My research aims to help identify the sources of such beliefs early in development and work toward effectively challenging and dismantling them.
