As the aviation world continues to confront unprecedented challenges, one of them being a rise in the number of people taking to the skies again after the pandemic, it is obvious that the managerial skill level of aviation professionals, and the innovation and vision of those professionals, is crutial to the success of the sector. The Management Certificate in Civil Aviation (MCCA) covers three main topics to help leaders prepare and enhance their leadership skills in civil aviation.
Offered in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the objective of the MCCA is to enhance the aviation management competencies of qualified personnel in the civil aviation community.
The programme is taught at a level equivalent to that of a graduate business programme and consists of three independent courses: Strategic Management, Human Resources Management, and Business Planning and Decision-Making.These courses will provide current and future leaders in civil aviation with the tools needed to bring their organizations up to speed on critical industry issues.
For the in-person format, each course is composed of nine (9) modules spread over four (4) to six (6) weeks of online learning, online self-paced — asynchronous (on LMS) and one (1) week in person in Montreal.
For the virtual format, each course is composed of nine (9) modules spread over eight (8) weeks of online learning, online self-paced — asynchronous (approximately 15 hours on LMS) and virtual classroom — synchronous (8 half-days sessions online with Zoom).
All courses provide a well-rounded view of the theme under the instruction of a variety of experts and professionals who represent unique perspectives. Successful completion of all three certificates will lead to a Management Certificate in Civil Aviation.
The Strategic Management Course
The long-term survival of any organization is a function of the ability of its leaders to predict future issues, plan new strategic directions and quickly adapt to change. Operating in the new post-pandemic reality will require that all participants in the aviation industry think strategically.
In this course you will learn how to develop and implement strategic plans and, using aviation industry cases, critically assess the strategic thinking of other leaders. Business strategy helps leaders effectively set goals, measure progress, and keep their organizations focused and motivated.
The Human Resources Management Course
The resilience and adaptability of every organization is, fundamentally, a reflection of its people. The last few years have seen significant changes in working patterns: employees are more concerned about their mental health and have put a high value on the flexibility of their personal time. Managers have had to deal with the "Great Resignation", quiet quitting and the challenge of building and maintaining team engagement.
In this course you will learn the key concepts linking principles of human behaviour to business situations, intercultural communications, and leadership. You will learn how to access your own leadership styles, learn how to develop your leadership potential and improve your ability to coach individuals and teams in times of change.
The Business Planning and Decision Making Course
Successful individuals in our time of generative AI, are those who can take a plan and bring it to life through a mix of creative decision making and modern project planning. In this course, you will learn techniques to strengthen your ability to identify and solve problems in new ways. You will also be introduced to modern project management tools which will enable you to implement organizational plans and projects.
