Since 1975, the Centre has carried a mandate to preserve the radio drama output of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, including scripts from the dawn of radio in Canada in the 1920s, to the present day. In 2002 the Centre opened its digital Diniacopoulos BBC World News Collection.
The Centre now holds in its archive over 8,000 hours of BBC World News radio broadcasts from 1969 to 1986 and 16,000 CBC radio drama scripts as well as several hundred sound versions for these productions. A BBC World News Index is available for consultation at the Centre and three extensive bibliographies have been produced on the radio dramas (1925-1961, 1962-1986 and 1987 onward). The annotated bibliographies are available in an electronic form via this Web site. The scripts themselves are available for study and consultation on-site at the Centre. Also available on site is the CBC Morningside Documents Collection.
