Manager, Built Environment Projects
Hours of work: 35 hours per week (full time), with a flexible schedule, according to hybrid work guidelines

Scope
The Manager of Built Environment Projects is responsible for the administration, project management, professional content, and strategic development of the Built Environment Projects team. The incumbent manages and oversees the team's administrative and operational functions. The incumbent is responsible for leading the strategic planning and major initiatives, including the team's core functions, member recruitment, partnership development, public engagement, and research revenue generation. They manage and oversee human resources-related and financial matters. They manage and oversee all research hires and supervise the team needed for project operations. The incumbent contributes to all facets of the team’s planning, initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Team Building: Form a team of graduate students researching on transportation topics and conduct regular team meetings and workshops.
- Team Strategy: Learn about the student’s research and deduct a transportation strategy (including fields of expertise, projects ideas and use cases for Tools4Cities) in collaboration with the team and external partners.
- Networking: Connect with important stakeholders in the field of transportation and other research units within and beyond Concordia University.
- Project Development & Acquisition: Initiate and develop project ideas with the team and external stakeholders, identify funding opportunities and write project proposals.
- Research Alignment: Conduct interviews with Master and PhD candidates, develop students’ research topics and align those topics with the transportation team strategy.
- Consulting: Advice within and beyond the NGCI on innovation themes in the domain of sustainable urban mobility.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree with five years of experience, of which at least one year is in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated project management experience, decision-making skills, and the ability to establish and respond to priorities.
- Proven team leader and team builder with the ability to motivate people and foster a positive team environment.
- Academic background in energy and/or electrical engineering.
- Experience with initiating and managing IoT-based building and community energy projects.
- Technical background in building modelling, IoT-based building operation and community energy design, commissioning, and implementation.
- Broad experience in multi-project (and multi-stakeholder) coordination.
- Knowledge in stakeholder (and donor) engagement and management.
- Experience obtaining external funding and working with the Ministry of Higher Education is desirable.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English to express ideas effectively and communicate clearly in complex situations; Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French.
- Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently.
- Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary
$84,998 until $91,787
