Concordia is leading the way in the fight against climate change and its far-reaching effects through research, curriculum development, operations or student-led initiatives.
Gifts to the Sustainability Development Fund help integrate forward-thinking perspectives into academic programs and adapt on-campus processes to reduce waste and emissions. They help us leverage the creativity and innovation of our students and researchers to find solutions that will benefit us all.

Office of Sustainability
Formed in 2019, Concordia’s Office of Sustainability is the university’s central sustainability unit, complemented by a network of sustainability-related positions in other units and departments.
The office champions sustainability at every level of Concordia and works to embed sustainability in all facets of university life through community engagement, robust programs and assessments, and strategic university-wide support.
Initiatives include:
- The Student Sustainability Ambassador Program, training students to spread the word and drive cultural change for more ecologically-responsible behaviours on campus;
- The Sustainable Event Certification Program, supporting event organizers on campus so they can host and entertain sustainably.
Other green giving options
Looking for a more specific sustainability initiative to support? Consider some alternatives:
- Concordia University Centre for Creative Reuse (CUCCR), which diverts reusable items and other materials from Concordia’s waste-stream and offers them to the general community for free;
- Concordia Greenhouse Project, a collectively run all-organic greenhouse on the roof of the Henry H. Hall Building, offering a unique study space, and hosting workshops on horticulture and other events;
- Sustainability Development Fund - Student Initiatives, which supports student-led projects like the Concordia Precious Plastics Project (CP3), which collects, washes, shreds and repurposes plastic waste into coasters, keychains, jewelry and more.
