About the Artwork
Created in the same years as the celebrated series of wall sculptures conceived for Place des Arts, “The Builder” was originally commissioned for the head office of an architect/developer in the west end of Montreal. It was re-integrated at Concordia in 2012 to mark the eightieth anniversary of the artist’s birth.
About the Artist
In 1954, Jordi Bonet emigrated from Spain to Canada and was to become one of the country’s most important sculptors. Despite having lost his right arm during childhood, he completed more than a hundred major commissions across North America before his untimely death at the age of 47.
