About the Artwork

Viewable from both directions of the de Maisonneuve pedestrian tunnel, the two sets of 26 images conveys the story of a fictional species of maple tree - Acer Concordiae. As the sapling takes root then rises to prominence on the Montreal landscape, so too does the flourishing university which shares its Latin name and location.

About the Artist

Kamila Wozniakowska was born in Warsaw, Poland. Since the early 1990s her work has been based on blending the satirical and the narrative aspects of 18th century engravings with methods of appropriation art, combining repetition and reprocessing of images.
