My research combines environmental humanities with postcolonial studies. I am interested in tropes of placemaking and how they give rise to subject formations. My doctoral project investigates questions of place formation in connection to colonial expeditions carried out in the 19th century. My project brings together colonial journals, manuals written by colonial physicians and speculative fiction.
I work as an instructor at Concordia University, alongside being an RA to Dr. Jill Didur and Dr. Cynthia Quarrie. With my colleague Sadie Barker, I co-founded and currently co-edit a journal of postcolonial cultural criticism, named Refractions.
