Award-winning Canadian author, playwright and actor Ann-Marie MacDonald was Concordia University’s inaugural Mordecai Richler Writer in Residence, issuing digital dispatches as well as a public lecture as part of the university’s Thinking Out Loud series. Watch the video.
The Richler family established Concordia’s Mordecai Richler Reading Room in 2013. The space is a recreation of the author’s writing space with his original desk, typewriter, books, papers and even his ashtray – all things that surrounded Richler as he wrote some of Canada’s most memorable works. The room is located in the J.W. McConnell Building on Concordia’s Sir George Williams Campus, sharing the neighborhood with many of Richler’s old haunts.
