At Concordia, good food means more than just great taste. We prioritize nutrition, ethical sourcing, and environmental responsibility while supporting local and global farming communities.
Locally sourced ingredients
We focus on sourcing from Quebec and prioritize certified sustainable growers for non-local ingredients.
Stingers Roast Fair Trade coffee
Every cup of Stingers Roast coffee is crafted with care:
- Beans sourced from Manos de Mujeres, a group of women-owned farms in Colombia's FUDAM cooperative, certified organic and Fairtrade.
- Roasted locally by Brûlerie Faro, ensuring freshness and quality.
Fair Trade on campus
As a Fair Trade Campus since 2016, we are proud to be the first in Canada to serve Fairtrade bananas! Our coffee, tea, and sugar are all Fairtrade certified (except for franchise locations). We also celebrate Fair Trade Campus Week every fall!
Aliments du Québec au Menu
Concordia proudly serves 39 certified recipes (and counting) under the Aliments du Québec au Menu program. Each certified recipe contains at least 60% locally sourced ingredients, supporting Quebec farmers and producers.
Zero waste dining halls
Our dining halls are designed for sustainability:
- Reusable plates, cups, and utensils.
- Bulk condiment dispensers to reduce packaging waste.
- Compost-only waste bins – the only waste left behind is compostable napkins and food scraps.
