Fees, discounts & refunds
Tuition fees
Tuition fees are the same for all students admitted to CCE courses and programs.
Note: Concordia Continuing Education tuition fees and registration fees are due at the time of registration. Failure to make full payment may result in interest charges being applied.
Loyalty discount
All students who meet at least one of the following conditions, will receive a 10% discount on their CCE course or workshop tuition fees:
- Have completed a CCE, Undergraduate or Graduate course at Concordia University in a prior academic term;
- Have completed a language proficiency test (IELTS) at CCE;
- Have completed a CCE Professional Development Seminar/Workshop.
- This discount is based on the information maintained in the Concordia University student information system.
Note: This discount does not apply to a language proficiency test enrollment (IELTS) nor to application fees for admission to a CCE program of study.
Refund policy
We reserve the right to cancel any course, workshop or program for which it is deemed there is insufficient registration. In this case, all fees paid will be refunded in full.
Students may drop a course or swap (drop/enroll) a course online through the Student Centre or by writing to Concordia Continuing Education at cce@concordia.ca. Non-attendance of classes does not constitute a course drop and is not subject to a refund of tuition fees. Students may not drop a course after 70% of the course has elapsed. All Application fees, registration fees, late registration fees and required tuition deposits are non-refundable and not transferable. Tuition refunds will be granted according to the following policy:
- Students who drop a course or swap (drop/enrol) a course prior to the date of the first scheduled class will receive a full tuition refund, less a $25 tuition penalty per course. The application fee, registration fee and late registration fee are non-refundable.
- Students who drop a course or swap a course will be refunded 50% of the course tuition providing not more than 10% of the course hours have elapsed.
- Students who drop a course or swap a course after the above noted deadlines are not eligible for a refund.
Students who withdraw from an intensive program must do so in writing to Concordia Continuing Education at cce@concordia.ca. Non-attendance of classes does not constitute a withdrawal from the program and is not subject to a refund of tuition fees. Students may not drop a course after 70% of the course has elapsed. All Application fees, registration fees and required tuition deposits are non-refundable and not transferable. Tuition refunds will be granted according to the following policy:
- Students who withdraw from an intensive program prior to the date of the first scheduled class will receive a full tuition refund, less the required minimum tuition deposit charged for that program. Students who drop a course or swap (drop/enroll) a course within the intensive program prior to the date of the first scheduled class for the course will receive a full tuition refund for the course less the portion of the required minimum tuition deposit associated with the course.
- Students who withdraw from an intensive program within the first week of scheduled classes will receive a refund of 50% of the total tuition for the program. Students who drop a course or swap (drop/enroll) a course within the intensive program will be refunded 50% of the course tuition providing not more than 10% of the course hours have elapsed.
- Students who withdraw from an intensive program, drop a course or swap a course within an intensive program after the above noted deadlines are not eligible for a refund.
Participants who wish to cancel their seminar registration must notify CCE by email cce@concordia.ca at least fifteen (15) days prior to the start date of the workshop in order to receive a full refund otherwise NO REFUND will be issued.
Non-attendance of a workshop does not constitute a notification of cancellation.
Final grade re-evaluations
Fee: $75. Concordia Continuing Education recognizes the right of students to request the re-evaluation of their final grade. Such requests must meet the criteria for re-evaluation and should be made in writing to Concordia Continuing Education, within the 30 days following the end of the course. Students will be informed of the criteria, delays and of the procedures to be followed.
Supplemental examinations
Fee: $35. Students who find themselves in one of the two following situations may be entitled to write a supplemental examination:
- Students who were absent from a midterm or final examination and can provide a valid reason* for having missed the examination. (*medical note from physician or other document proof)
- Students who have failed a course by ten (10) marks or less. Students who fail a course by more than ten (10) marks are not entitled to write a supplemental examination.
All requests to write a supplemental examination must be made in writing to Concordia Continuing Education. The supplemental examination, once approved by CCE, must be written within one (1) week following the original midterm exam date or within four (4) weeks following the original final examination date. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in a DNW (Did Not Write) notation on the student’s transcript.
Tuition tax receipts
Annual tuition tax receipts for Educational Tax Credits (Federal T2202 and Provincial Relévé 8) are available on or before February 28 each year for the course fees paid in the previous taxation year. Access your tax receipts in the Student Centre.
Course exemptions
Fee: $55 per course
Processing time: 10 working days
You can request to be exempted from a course within a program if you already completed an equivalent course in the past. CCE recognizes the learning delivered in other postsecondary institutions, provided it complies with the criteria below.
Requests for course exemptions based on academic learning may be made for the following:
- Certificate Programs: a maximum of one course up to 40 hours
- Diploma Programs: 2-3 courses up to a maximum of 60 course hours
Course contents evolve with time, there are time limits for courses completed in the past. Requests for academic transfer must not exceed the following:
- 10 years for non-technical programs
- 5 years for technical programs
- The course upon which your exemption request is based must be equivalent to or above the number of course hours of the CCE course.
- Candidates must provide an official academic transcript with a passing grade of no lower than 60%.
- Candidates must provide proof of learning with a course syllabus containing detailed curriculum.
Courses approved to be exempted based on academic experience will appear on the student transcript as such (exemption). Decisions on course exemptions based on academic learning are final.
Course waivers
Fee: $35 per course
Processing time: 5 working days
You can request to waive a prerequisite course when you are confident that your prior knowledge, academic or experiential, matches the content of a course. You waive a course at your own risk: instructors will not cover pre-requisite concepts in the course, nor can you expect them to.
Criteria for course waivers:
- Course waivers may be requested for pre-requisite courses to CCE programs.
- Waived courses will not appear on student transcripts.
- In order to be granted a certificate or diploma, a student must make a formal request to replace the course and be pre-approved by CCE.
Decisions based on course waivers are final.
Requests for waiver from prerequisite courses must be made in writing to CCE. Students must submit a Course Waiver Form with appropriate proof of experience in order to be considered for a course waiver.
Concordia Continuing Education does not have differential tuition fees. Tuition fees are the same for all students admitted to CCE.
