How it works

1. Register for the program

Visit our program page and register for the schedule and delivery mode (in-person or online) that suits your needs.

Please note that Concordia faculty and staff must use a netname and password associated with a student ID to register. They can obtain their student ID by following these steps.

2. Confirm your 15-minute placement test appointment

Within one business day following registration, you will receive an email with an appointment for a 15-minute telephone assessment that will determine your starting level for the program. You must respond to this email to confirm your appointment and provide a telephone number at which you can be reached.

3. Undergo your 15-minute placement test

A French instructor will contact you at the time of your appointment to complete your 15-minute placement test. Following the assessment, you will receive an email with details of your starting level for the program. Learning within a community of the same skill level will put you on the right track to achieving your French language goals.

This program is designed to equip you French language skills for success in Quebec's workplaces and communities. While it prepares you for these environments, please note that the program does not replace or guarantee success in the government of Quebec's “Certificat de sélection du Québec.” 

If you're looking for a language assessment approved by the Quebec government, we provide both the Test de connaissance du français (TCF) for Quebec and Canada. Register for an upcoming test session.

Concordia faculty and staff registration

Please note that Concordia faculty and staff must use a netname and password associated with a student ID to register for the French conversation program.

If you've applied to or taken a course at Concordia in the past, you already have a student ID. 

You can recover this ID by following these steps:

  1. Click "Forgot password?"
  2. Select "Student Account"
  3. Follow the instructions to create or reset your password.

If you've never applied to or taken a course at Concordia, you'll need to create your student ID by following these steps:

  1. Click "Don't have a "NETNAME"
  2. Complete the form
  3. Click submit
  4. You will receive an email with your student ID and netname along with instructions to set up your password and complete your registration.
