Amy Buckland, BA 06
University librarian
Buckland joined Concordia as a university librarian in 2023. She has a rich background in libraries, spanning academic and governmental roles, along with experience in publishing. Buckland began her career at McGill University, managing digitization efforts and leading open-access initiatives.
Before joining Concordia, she served as assistant deputy minister for collections at Library and Archives Canada, overseeing 500 staff and a $50 million budget. There, she reorganized operations to enhance access to government records.
Previously, she was head of research and scholarship at the University of Guelph Library, where she developed digital infrastructure for research support. Additionally, she managed the institutional repository at the University of Chicago Library.
Buckland has a Master of Library and Information Studies from McGill and a BA in political science and women’s studies from Concordia.
