Abstract:
Robots and UAVs present complex dynamic behaviours and the derivation of models, controllers and objectives for missions is usually intricate. One way to make the design more manageable is through the use of Machine Learning techniques. This talk will deal with two issues related to autonomous systems: the problem of identification of dynamic models for robots; and the problem of finding controllers for the stabilization of such robots when their parameters are unknown or uncertain. Recent results using Learning Based Model Predictive Control, Learning Automata, Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning will be presented.
Biography:
Sidney N. Givigi received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada. In 2009, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) where he is now an Associate Professor. Sidney's research interests are mainly focused on autonomous systems, especially the decentralized control of multiple vehicles, learning and adaptation of autonomous vehicles and modeling of complex systems with Game Theory.
