Filmmaker and Concordia alumnus Kim Nguyen, BFA (Film Production) 97, has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the influential organization whose members select the Oscar winners every year.
Nguyen's latest film, Rebelle, which he both wrote and directed, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at this year's Academy Awards. The film - the story of a child soldier in Africa - also won 10 prizes at the Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, and eight Jutra Awards.
