Gabrielle nominated for top CSA and Jutra awards

Gabrielle, a film written and directed by Louise Archambault (BFA 93, MFA 00), is in the running for several Canadian Screen Awards and Prix Jutra, including Best Motion Picture. 

At the Screen Awards, Gabrielle will also compete in the following categories: achievement in editing by Richard Comeau (BFA 97), performance by an actor in a supporting role, performance by an actress is a leading role, and achievement in overall sound. 

The film is also nominated for nine Prix Jutra, Quebec's top cinema prize, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Gabrielle was selected as Canada's submission for the 86th Academy Awards in the Foreign Language Film category but did not make the long list.

The Canadian Screen Awards will air on CBC television on Sunday, March 9.

The Prix Jutra awards ceremony will take place on March 23.
