Martine Dugrenier hung onto her gold medal in the 67-kilogram class at the World Wrestling Championships on September 10 in Moscow.
Dugrenier, a Concordia alumna and Montreal native (BSc 02, JMSB GrDipl 08), beat Elena Shalygina of Kazakhstan 0-2, 6-0, 7-0 for her second successive world title.
"It's a lot of pressure, but I think I did quite good overall," Dugreiner told The Canadian Press. "I lost the first period but I was able to adapt and recover the lost ground.”
Dugrenier was a Concordia Athlete of the Year for 2003-2004 and won the Outstanding Wrestler Gold medal in 2004.
