Reading Week 2021: what’s open, what’s closed
University faculty and staff will have both March 4 and 5 off this year.
This year’s Reading Week runs from March 1 to 5 for Concordia students. During most of that time, many services remain as available as under current COVID-19 conditions. However, some will pause on March 4 and 5, 2021. See below for further details.
Access to campus during Reading Week
Faculty, staff and graduate students who are on the recurring access list can continue to work in offices, labs and studios. As usual, they will need to know their IDs and check in with Campus Security before going to their campus destination.
Libraries
During Reading Week, Concordia’s Webster and Vanier libraries continue to offer the services they have adapted to provide support during the pandemic. These include article and chapter scans and deliveries, contactless book pickup, interlibrary loans and Ask A Librarian, which allows students to chat or Zoom with librarians for specific assistance.
Individual study spaces and reading rooms will also remain open. Students must continue to book them on the Concordia Library website — the best resource for hours and other key library information.
Birks Student Service Centre
The Birks Student Service Centre will be closed from March 4 to March 7, and will resume operations on March 8. Therefore, those with time-sensitive requests should be in touch as soon as possible or expect slight delays in response times during that week.
Campus stores
The Book Stop continues to operate online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Print Store and Art Store will be closed on March 4 and 5, and will reopen on March 8. Normally, art supplies can be purchased from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — credit and debit only.
IITS Service Desk
The IITS Service Desk will continue providing remote service during Reading Week. Students, faculty and staff can call or email for IT help from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends.
Parking
The Loyola Campus parking lots and the J.W. McConnell (LB) Building parking garage remain open during Reading Week.
The Faubourg (FB) Building parking garage remains closed until fall 2021 due to renovations.
Wellness services
All campus wellness services will be closed from March 4 to 7. This includes:
- The Access Centre for Students with Disabilities
- Counselling and Psychological Services
- Health Services
Emergency and crisis resources
Those in need of emergency or crisis support services will continue to have help options.
In Montreal:
- Info-Social/Info-Santé: Call 8-1-1 to speak with a nurse or social worker 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Those with an issue with the number can call 1-866-567-4036.

Food services
Cafeterias and cafés will remain closed, as they have been since the beginning of the pandemic.
Athletic facilities
Campus athletic facilities — including the PERFORM Centre — continue to be closed.
