On June 27, representatives of the Concordia Association of Research Employees (CARE) and the university met to formalize the renewal of the CARE collective agreement.

The negotiation parties were led by Christopher Law, president of CARE, and Pierre Claude Bourke, manager of employee and labour relations for Human Resources. The new agreement is effective from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2026.

‘CARE’s employees are crucial for achieving the university’s research objectives’

CARE represents the unionized research associates, assistants, technicians and professionals at Concordia. Its members fulfill a wide variety of roles across the research sector, from discovering new phenomena and techniques to maintaining the infrastructure that supports research in every faculty.

“This agreement not only speaks to the persistence of our bargaining team over the two-year period, but it underscores both parties’ shared recognition that CARE’s employees are crucial for achieving the university’s research objectives,” Law says.

“I sign this document with a sense of gratitude to our team for their work and to our members for their support throughout the process.”

Bourke hopes this new agreement reflects the university's commitment to supporting research.

“We believe that the changes to the collective agreement will help to recruit and retain skilled research talent, further enhancing Concordia’s research impact,” he says.

Complete details of the agreement are available on the Concordia website in English and French.
