The Provincial Employment Roundtable (PERT) recently launched its Circonflexe Mentorship program at an event hosted by Concordia.

The project is designed to address employment challenges faced by Quebec's English-speaking communities. Supported by Francisation Québec, it aims to enhance participants' French language skills and expand their professional opportunities.

Concordia President Graham Carr and Quebec Finance Minister Éric Girard were among those who attended to show their support for the initiative. Both delivered speeches highlighting the importance of helping English-speaking Quebecers develop fluency and confidence in using French in a professional context. Representatives from Francisation Quebec were also present.

The program is particularly relevant for Concordia students preparing to enter the job market and looking to deepen their French skills. Participants will have access to mentors, French resources and a support network to help them navigate Quebec’s professional landscape.

"This program reflects our genuine commitment to supporting all members of our community in learning or improving their command of French,” says Carr. “It matches our commitment to provide students with work-integrated learning opportunities that enhance their professional integration and cultural immersion in Quebec."

Isabel Dunnigan, Concordia’s associate vice-president of professional education and valorisation du français, adds that the program supports the university’s goal to build an environment where everyone can thrive professionally while enriching their French language skills.

"We greatly appreciate the value of this program, which not only supports diverse communities but also provides our students with a tool that facilitates their integration into Quebec society, both personally and professionally, whether they choose to gain experience in an urban setting or a more rural area."
