Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

No minimum level of French proficiency is required to apply for admission to Concordia.

Everyone looking to develop their competencies in French, with a special invitation for our new undergraduate students from outside of Quebec (international and out-of-province students) starting university in fall 2025 and beyond. 

No; French courses are not mandatory in our programs.

No, you will not need nor are you required to reach a specific level of French proficiency to graduate. However, we strongly encourage all students to develop their French-language skills as much as possible and to take advantage of the French courses, conversation groups and activities Concordia offers as this will add an important dimension to your studies in Montreal.  

Support and incentives will be offered throughout students’ academic journey to reach this goal, including experiential learning opportunities, fun and engaging social activities both on and off-campus and more! Additional details will be available in the coming months.
