Brick by Brick, Wall by Wall

Artist statement
Brick by Brick, Wall by Wall emerges from my perspective as a Westerner who starts to see the cracks in the curated narrative of traditional media—a growing mistrust of the systems that produce so-called unbiased reportings of events. Western media corporations’ apparent bias in the coverage of the Palestinian genocide sheds light on the colonial and capitalist allegiance of our media systems. This bias fosters racist nationalism as it manipulates the popular opinions of the ongoing genocide. With each publication, a wall of controlled narrative and dehumanizing rhetoric is erected around a misinformed population. Meanwhile, Israel's "right to defend itself" prevails, and our institutions and governments continue to fund its colonial project and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population. This work is about the prevailing truth of the people and the light shining through the walls. It is also about the effort it takes to break down those walls, fueled by feelings of rage, hope, and resistance.
