Mission/about the organisation:

Dazibao is a contemporary art center and non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination and mediation of contemporary image practices, privileging artistic experimentation, inquiry and reflection. By questioning the discourses, uses and modes of disseminating images, Dazibao explores artistic, historical and social issues, which address multiple communities. The reflections developed by Dazibao translate into the presentation of exhibitions, screening programs, public works, publications and special events. Dazibao collaborates with numerous artists, curators, academics, critics, and researchers and has several recurring partnerships with other organizations.

Context of the internship

Dazibao’s internships are intended for undergraduate or master's students in visual arts, film, or art history. They provide a professional and stimulating work environment where the candidate gains familiarity with local and International arts milieux and develops skills specific to the cultural sector, such as research, writing, and critical thinking.

Most internships are research-based. Students are assigned a particular subject or project for which they are asked to propose ideas based on their research findings. In doing so, they contribute to Dazibao’s programming. Such research projects are assigned based on the student’s skills and interests. Candidates are also invited to propose specific projects, keeping in mind the internship timeline and Dazibao’s mandate.

Please note that Dazibao’s internships do not offer a context for students to disseminate their personal artwork or curatorial projects. Dazibao offers internships for either fall (September-December) or winter semesters (January-April).

This internship is intended for undergraduate or master's students in visual arts, art history, or other disciplines looking for a first work experience.

This internship is intended to provide a professional and stimulating work environment where the candidate can become familiar with the arts milieu, develop skills specific to the cultural sector, and expand their network of contacts. Specific projects, goals, and tasks will be determined together with the student based on their interests and skills.

Contact: Students who are interested are invited to send a CV and a letter of interest to Emma-Kate Guimond ekguimond@dazibao.art.
