The Creative Arts Therapies Residency
Art Volt is happy to announce a new residency program designed specifically to help support recent alumni of the Creative Arts Therapies program by providing them opportunities within Montreal based organizations. To this end, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Alzheimer Groupe, the Jewish General Department of Child Psychiatry and the Pointe-Saint-Charles Art School at Bâtiment 7.
Program overview
The Creative Arts Therapies Residency is a program which aims to help three emerging practitioners develop online or onsite services, grow their professional network and gain valuable experiences. One recent alumni from each of the Creatives Arts Therapies programs (Art, Drama and Music) will be selected and paired with a Montreal-based organization.
Each selected candidate will receive an honorarium of $1350 for a 2 hour weekly presence at the site (online or onsite depending on the situation), to develop and deliver a weekly group therapy session for 13 weeks from September to December. The alumni will be working closely with the organization to develop the one-hour group, the 2nd hour will consist of preparation, documentation and guiding the Concordia Graduate Diploma student.
The Pointe-Saint-Charles Art School is a community-driven non-profit Fine Art School and a charitable organization offering affordable and/or free visual arts classes and an art therapy service for people of all ages, walks of life and levels of expertise. They work with people of all ages, and offer group and individual sessions.
Art therapy clients will mostly be referred from local organizations such as Saint-Columba House, Share the Warmth, Action-Gardien, and the Community Clinic. With the occasional self-referral. An intake protocol is in place for referral slips, consent forms, etc.
