Heather Walker Awards

Heather Walker was an academic advisor in the Office of Student Affairs in the Faculty of Fine Arts who showed exemplary care and dedication towards our students.

These awards were established in 1995 through the donations of colleagues and friends to honour the memories of Heather Walker and her daughter Erin.

Heather Walker Memorial Scholarship

The Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts program, specifically in one of the programs offered at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema or Photography in the Department of Studio Arts. This award alternates between the School of Cinema and the Photography Area on an annual basis.

Eligibility

In the 2024-25 academic year the Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student in a program at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema.

Application requirements

Candidates must submit, along with the application form, a personal statement describing their involvement in humanitarian activities and how it impacts on their artistic practice and academic achievement and/or vice versa.

All documentation must be uploaded through the Student Centre.

Heather and Erin Walker Humanitarian Award

This Award will be awarded annually to a full-time or part-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts program who can demontrate a commitment to humanitarian activities while pursuing academic excellence and dedication to community service.

About Heather Walker

Heather Walker graduated with a BFA in Cinema in 1980 and obtained a second BFA in Photography in 1988. She pursued successful artistic activities in Photography and was dedicated to humanitarian organizations such as Families for Children, Development and Peace and H.O.P.E.

The Heather Walker Awards are both application-based awards and are administered by the Financial Aid and Awards Office.

Applications and supporting documents  are submitted through your Student Centre.
