The Photography Teaching Collection welcomes donated objects to teach about the history of photography. Your old photographic paraphernalia could become an invaluable educational resource.

Donations we welcome to our collection

  • Daguerreotypes, preferably with case (1839-1860)

  • Ambrotypes (1854-1865)

  • Cyanotypes (1842-present)

  • Tintypes (1856-1900)

  • Cartes-de-visite and cartes-de-visite albums (1854-1900) 

  • Autochrome plates (1907-1930)

  • Collodion glass plate negatives (1851-1900)

  • Celluloid negatives (1890s-2000s)

  • Photographic glass slides for magic lantern projector (1850s-1920s)

  • Early illustrated newspapers, ex: Canadian Illustrated News, L’Opinion publique, Illustrated London News, The Daily Graphic, Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung, Maclean’s, etc. (1870s-1930s)

  • Early X-ray image (1895-1920)

  • Early photomicrograph (1850s-1900)

  • Kodak no. 1 camera (c.1889-1895)

  • Leica cameras, models I, II, M3, M4 (1920s-1950s)

  • Polaroid pictures (1950s-1980s)

  • Polaroid cameras (1950s-2000s)

  • Hasselblad 500 C (1957-1970)

We seek items that are generally in good condition, but not necessarily in working order. Our team reserves the right to accept or reject donations based on the quality and relevance of the material.
