PhD and or MASc position in Rocket Propulsion Systems
Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD/MASc studentship (full time) in the area of advanced chemical rocket propulsion for next generation launch vehicles.
We are looking for one or more strong candidates to work on a collaborative research project with NordSpace (NordSpace) for the development of liquid rocket engine turbopumps.
This position will be funded through Concordia University Scholarship and will be supervised by Dr. Jerin John who leads the IgniteLab: Rocket Propulsion Research at Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada.
Project Description:
Liquid bi-propellant rocket engines stand as the cutting-edge technology in the space propulsion industry. And turbopumps play a vital role in delivering the propellants to the thrust chamber of rocket engines to support high-pressure combustion. The goal is to design, construct, and test the turbopump under required conditions. You may have to work with a partner company for this project.
Requirements:
• A recent BSc/MS degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Material Science, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) or a related field with a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 or above.
• Strong background in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and combustion
• Experience in computational fluid dynamics tools (Ansys) and design software (CATIA, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor)
• Experience with programming language (Python, MATLAB, etc. is an asset)
• Excellent English (written and oral) communication skills is a must
How to Apply:
Applicants should email Dr. Jerin John (jerin.john@concordia.ca) with the subject title: “Your name_MSc/PhD position in chemical propulsion”. The email should include the following:
1. Detailed curriculum vitae (CV)
2. Cover letter explaining your suitability for the position and research experience (if any)
3. Transcripts and degree/diploma certificate
