Timothy Kavanagh
Current position: Canadian Manager, Clinical Support and Services at BBraun Medical
After completing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2005 at McGill University, Timothy specialized in pediatric intensive care nursing at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He spent seven years at the bedside managing the most intense, fragile patients and their families in the most stressful environment possible. He left direct patient care in 2011 to work with B. Braun Medical of Canada, a privately-held medical device company supporting his sales team and more importantly the health of patients with innovative products. For the past six years, Timothy has been the manager of Clinical and Educational Services and has consulted health care professionals on best practice with medical devices while also maintaining cost efficiency across the United States and Canada. He supports the development of new products, leads product education, guest lectures on best practice at various conferences including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses and trains the sales team on value positioning of products for their clients. In 2016, he completed his Project Management Professional certificate to further provide organization and support for his team.
Timothy’s philosophy on health care is that in order to be cost effective and provide the best care for patients you must invest in the best products and education. As a result, he has been able to begin steering his sales team away from a relationship based selling model to a consultative based selling with support from his team of clinical experts. He has grown his team which began with only himself in 2011 to 14 contracted educators, two clinical consultants, four full-time educators, and two IT specialists.
Timothy operates an independent First Aid and CPR training program with the Canadian Red Cross, where he certifies various community groups in accident prevention and first aid skills. He enjoys the outdoors through hiking and camping. He also plays regular sports non-competitively throughout the year including soccer, skiing, badminton, ultimate Frisbee and hockey to help encourage an active lifestyle for himself and friends.
