Concordia is strengthening its commitment to digital resilience through a strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Give1Project. This collaboration supports the launch of a cybersecurity initiative aimed at empowering youth in West and Central Africa.

The project aligns with the Concordia Africa Initiative and seeks to address critical vulnerabilities in the region’s digital infrastructure while fostering education and capacity building. It underscores the university’s dedication to advancing global digital security and collaboration based on mutual learning and shared expertise.

The Concordia Africa Initiative and Give1Project

The Concordia Africa Initiative is a program launched earlier this year to develop partnerships with institutions across the continent and contribute to long-term, sustainable solutions in areas like technology and education.

In collaboration with Give1Project, a global organization committed to youth empowerment, the initiative emphasizes the importance of two-way knowledge exchange. Faculty and students from the Gina Cody School will bring their expertise in cybersecurity to the project while learning from local innovations and solutions in Africa. The aim is to build capacity on both sides, creating a platform for ongoing collaboration.

Building bridges for a safer digital future

The cybersecurity project will address emerging threats by equipping participants with practical tools and knowledge. More importantly, it creates a space for meaningful exchanges that benefit everyone involved.

“We see this as a vital step in contributing to Africa’s technological growth while reinforcing Concordia’s role as a global leader in education and research,” says Hawa Keita, lead of the Concordia Africa Initiative.

The initiative’s work falls under Concordia International, which plays a central role in driving the university’s efforts to build strong partnerships and create valuable opportunities for addressing shared challenges across borders.
