Emily Brass, BA 12

Emily Brass is a Manitoba-based journalist and news anchor. She hosts Type Taboo: Diary of a New Diabetic, a podcast series that follows her journey as she learns to cope with her recent diagnosis. Brass graduated from Concordia’s Department of Journalism, where she was awarded the Gordon Fisher Prize for Most Outstanding Journalism Graduate, the Science Writers & Communicators of Canada Emerging Journalist Award and the Don McGillivray Prize in Explanatory Journalism.

1. Richard J. Renaud Science Pavilion (SP)

Description

Central to Loyola’s revitalization, this building opened in 2003 and houses state-of-the-art classrooms, labs and public spaces. It is a symbol of Concordia’s commitment to advancing the sciences through sustainable design.

2. Applied Science Hub (HU)

Description

Certified LEED Gold, the Applied Science Hub opened in 2020 as a collaborative space for researchers across disciplines. It plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges through innovative research guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

3. Genome Foundry (GE)

Description

Established in 2018, Concordia’s Genome Foundry is Canada’s first facility dedicated to synthetic biology. It leverages robotics to accelerate gene manipulation, placing Concordia at the forefront of biomanufacturing research.

4. School of Health in the PERFORM Centre (PC)

Description

Launched in 2023, the School of Health offers cutting-edge health-care education and public wellness services. Located in the PERFORM Centre, it integrates next-generation technologies to reduce strain on health-care systems.

5. Concordia Centre for the Arts in Human Development (CAHD)

Location

7079 Terrebonne St., Montreal

Description

Since 1996, the CAHD has provided creative arts therapies to adults with disabilities. Located off-campus on Terrebonne Street, this centre illustrates Concordia’s commitment to community engagement and innovative therapeutic practices.

6. Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability (CC)

Description

Opened in 2002, this college brings together experts from various disciplines to address the major challenges of our time, particularly in promoting diversity and environmental sustainability.

7. Psychology Building (PY)

Description

Originally the High School or Junior Building, this structure was renovated in the early 1990s to become the home of Concordia’s Department of Psychology, a leader in research on cognitive science, health and behavioural neuroscience.

8. Hingston Hall (HA)

Description

A key residence on campus, Hingston Hall continues to serve as a co-ed living space, reflecting Concordia’s evolving commitment to inclusivity and student life.
